    Pairwise believes healthy food should be affordable, convenient, and sustainable.  We believe gene editing can be used to accelerate plant breeding in leveraging the natural genetic diversity in agricultural crops to address global food challenges.  We are bringing the benefits of these new innovations both to producers and directly to consumers through the produce aisle of their local grocery store.  Located in the Raleigh-Durham metro area, Pairwise was formed in 2017 and has plans to add about 100 employees over the next year to help meet our aggressive product development goals. 

    The Head of Collaboration and Portfolio Management will report to the CEO and will be responsible for building and implementing the tools and processes required to manage resources and track progress on Pairwise’s portfolio of projects. This role is also responsible for ensuring the execution of agreements with external partners and developing and maintains good relationships with them.


    • Build project management structure aligning resource needs and timelines across the Pairwise project portfolio
    • Participate on collaboration research committee with Monsanto and ensure proper processes are followed while enabling rapid research progress
    • Participate in Pairwise leadership team meetings setting technical and business strategy for the company and developing goals, milestones, and budgets
    • Actively engage with research teams to insure clear and measurable goals and objectives align with company strategy


    • PhD and 10+ years of relevant experience
    • Demonstrated ability to create and lead teams through influence
    • Experience in leading cross functional projects
    • Experience in managing and developing intellectual property strategies
    • Demonstrated ability to work with external parties creating complex research structures that deliver results
    • Product development experience, preferably in Agriculture
