    Pairwise believes healthy food should be affordable, convenient, and sustainable.  We believe gene editing can be used to accelerate plant breeding in leveraging the natural genetic diversity in agricultural crops to address global food challenges.  We are bringing the benefits of these new innovations both to producers and directly to consumers through the produce aisle of their local grocery store.  Located in the Raleigh-Durham metro area, Pairwise was formed in 2017 and has plans to add about 100 employees over the next year to help meet our aggressive product development goals. 

    The VP of Corporate Operations will report to the CEO and will be responsible for developing company capabilities in Finance, IT, Law, Product Stewardship, and Regulatory

    Responsibilities

    • Build a team with broad expertise to manage fundamental operations of the company
    • Develop and manage processes for and establish company budget structure
    • Oversee company financial reporting requirements until the CFO is .
    • Monitor, maintain and manage the various legal entities under and associated with Pairwise.
    • Monitor and, where appropriate, participate in the development of global genome editing regulatory rules. Implement strategies for stewarding early phase products aligned with government regulatory policies
    • Participate in Pairwise leadership team meetings setting technical and business strategy for the company and developing goals, milestones, and budgets
    • Actively engage in external technology efforts and coordinate with Business Development to identify opportunities for licensing and collaboration
    • Work with external and internal resources to establish policies for managing all company legal activities including contracts, IP and corporate activities

    Qualifications

    • 10 + years experience leading teams with operational responsibilities
    • Demonstrated ability to create and lead teams, and develop people
    • Experience managing significant budgets within a corporate structure with multiple entities
    • Experience in managing and developing intellectual property strategies
    • Experience managing external legal counsel
    • Experience with startup companies desired
    • Experience with Government regulations as they pertain to agriculture desired
    • Plant/agriculture experience not required but helpful
    • Demonstrated ability to manage complex processes including development of IT systems
