    Pairwise believes healthy food should be affordable, convenient, and sustainable.  We believe gene editing can be used to accelerate plant breeding in leveraging the natural genetic diversity in agricultural crops to address global food challenges.  We are bringing the benefits of these new innovations both to producers and directly to consumers through the produce aisle of their local grocery store.  Located in the Raleigh-Durham metro area, Pairwise was formed in 2017 and has plans to add about 100 employees over the next year to help meet our aggressive product development goals. 

    Pairwise is seeking a personable, detail-oriented lab manager to help get our operation up and going.  The role will have a broad set of responsibilities that includes not only lab management (reagent stocking, equipment maintenance, etc.) but will also manage research associates and serve as a key liason in the Raleigh-Durham area as the physical location of the company develops. This position will be critical to developing the culture of our R & D organization as the company grows.


    • Manage reagent consumption, stocking and purchasing agreements across all research functions
    • Manage equipment lifecycles, maintenance and service contracts
    • Manage resource allocation to projects including employee hours, lab resources, etc.
    • Manage research associates people development activities
    • Ensure efficient and smooth operation of Pairwise laboratory operations


    • BS or MS in biological or other physical science
    • 5+ years experience managing teams
    • Demonstrated ability to manage to a budget
    • Familiarity with lab safety practices
    • Familiarity with waste management and disposal
    • Training in a wide variety of lab techniques
